When Learning is Fun...students learn best!
Students thrive when learning feels like an adventure—full of creativity and joy. Across Horizons sites nationwide, we reimagine what learning can be, pairing academics with swimming and other athletics, cultural enrichment, and project-based learning.
Our programs are designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. Supported by caring teachers, families, and school partners, students experience a safe, inclusive community where they can discover new passions, overcome challenges, and grow into engaged citizens.
The Horizons Difference
Horizons’ hallmark is a tuition-free six-week summer learning and enrichment program for students from families with limited resources. But what sets it apart is the long-term commitment we make to our families - students return year after year. From Pre-K through high school, our scholars are learning in small groups led by caring educators and rooted in deep community relationships. This helps foster:
- Joyful, Hands-On Learning: Students in communities where learning gaps are the greatest build skills and confidence in STEM, literacy, athletics, the arts, and more.
- Personalized Support: With an average of 15 students per class and a 5:1 adult-to-student ratio, Horizons creates space for tailored instruction.
- Strong Community Roots: Horizons programs grow through partnerships with families, schools, supporters, and local enrichment providers who host field trips and lead engaging electives.
- Proven Impact: On average, Horizons students gain 6–10 weeks of reading and math skills each summer and return each year to build on that growth.
In Their Words
See what they have to say. Whether it’s a student, a teacher, a volunteer, or a donor, Horizons changes lives.
I would never leave my friends and teachers... I think Horizons is my heart.
