Our Virginia affiliate, Horizons Hampton Roads, has been named by Coastal Virginia Magazine as the #1 inspirational nonprofit in the region for 2016. Each year, Coastal Virginia’s Giving Back Awards recognize 25 nonprofit organizations “who are making huge impacts and inspiring others to do the same.”
Horizons Hampton Roads, which is hosted at three Virginia independent schools (Norfolk Collegiate School, Portsmouth Catholic Regional School, and Chesapeake Bay Academy) was part of a “count-down” announcement ceremony held at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art on Thursday November 3, which culminated with the unveiling of the November/December magazine cover, graced by a Norfolk Horizons student.
The Giving Back Awards highlight organizations that change the community for the better. Online nominations were accepted back in June, and then a panel of individuals gathered to discuss and determine the 25 organizations that excel at transforming local communities and enriching the lives of others. The top five organizations were decided based on their inspiring generosity, their motivated and passionate work ethic, and the significant differences they’re making in Coastal Virginia.
