College Signing Day Inspires Students to Reach Higher

On April 26, Horizons National Board Chair Jane Stoddard Williams and Horizons Ambassador Allison Williams joined First Lady Michelle Obama for College Signing Day at New York City’s Harlem Armory. More than 4,000 students from across New York high schools were in attendance.

College Signing Day is part of the First Lady’s “Reach Higher” initiative to inspire young people to pursue their education past high school. In addition to the event in New York, more than 1,000 College Signing Day events were held in nearly every state by communities, students, and organizations committed to helping students pursue higher education.

Reach Higher is designed to inspire every student in America to take charge of their future by completing their education past high school, whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university.

Graduating from high school and heading on to college or other post-secondary training is a path 99% of Horizons high school students pursue every year.
