Executive Director, Horizons at Lexington Montessori School (Lexington, MA)
The Horizons program at Lexington Montessori School, Lexington, Massachusetts, seeks an Executive Director to lead a six-week summer school Montessori program in June of this year. In its fifth summer, the program will have 50 students, ages 3-11. At full capacity – projected for 2022 – Horizons LMS will serve 80+ students ages 3-14 (all of whom qualify for free or reduced school lunch in their communities). Montessori philosophy will be the foundation of the curriculum, with concentrations in math and language.
The Executive Director works with the Horizons LMS Board of Directors to raise funds for the program, manage a budget, hire teachers, plan curriculum, and serve as chief executive of the program, reporting to the Horizons LMS Board of Directors.
Candidates should have experience fundraising; working with early education, elementary, and middle school students; communicating and collaborating with teachers, families, and the greater community; and organizing schedules for academic and recreational activities for the program. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Non-Profit Management, or Business Administration is required. An advanced education degree and/or Montessori experience as well as facility with Spanish will benefit the person in the position of Executive
The successful candidate will start as soon as possible at 12 hours/week, increasing to 40 hours/week in June and through mid-August. Weekly hours in the fall and winter are negotiable. As the program grows, so will the number of hours for the position throughout the year. Salary is commensurate with experience.
