Bring Horizons to Your Community
By partnering with Horizons, your school can contribute to closing the achievement gap for low-income children from your larger community. Horizons high-quality summer programs build brighter futures for these children and challenge them academically, socially and physically. In return, your school reaps a multitude of benefits. It’s a true win-win!
Horizons programs create a partnership between public and private institutions. Each summer, public school students spend six weeks on the campuses of independent and post-secondary schools. The proven Horizons model allows you to fulfill your commitment to public purpose. We can help you turn goals like diversity, service learning and community engagement into action. Horizons National works with you every step of the way, providing seed funding for the first two years and ongoing support throughout the year to ensure success at all levels.
Each program is unique, reflecting the culture, curriculum, and philosophy of the host school. While Horizons National supports and guides our programs, it does not dictate program specifics. Our programs hire their own teachers and directors and design their own curriculum. Each Horizons program truly becomes part of its host school’s fabric.
The award-winning Horizons National slow-growth model makes it easy for your school to start and sustain a program. A typical program begins with one or two grades, adding a grade level each summer until the program serves Kindergarten through eighth grade. Every Horizons program we have ever started is still running – a testament to the strength and sustainability of the program model.
“Our school has gained in vitality, energy and identity because of Horizons, and this is a genuine return on investment for the institution.”
– Tim Cottrell, Head of School, Harley School, Rochester, NY
