Horizons at Salisbury School
Salisbury, MD
Horizons at The Salisbury School was founded in 2003 by O.U.R. Community in partnership with the Wicomico County Board of Education and The Salisbury School, a private day school located in Salisbury on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The key components of the program are academic classes in reading, writing, math and science, swimming lessons, and recreational and cultural enrichment opportunities.
Each year students from the Wicomico County Public Schools experience a brand new world of opportunity and academic enrichment. Highlights from our 2007 program (our fifth anniversary year) included group trips to the National Aquarium in Baltimore and a performance of "Grease", in addition to lessons in the classroom and learning to swim.
Horizons at The Salisbury School has a diverse group of students (African-American, Hispanic, Asian and Caucasian). Horizons is a multi year summer intervention that strives to re-enroll students for 9 straight summers (rising 1st grade to rising 9th grade). We maintain a 1:4 teacher-to-student ratio, with a maximum capacity of 108 students.
