Foundations and Corporations
As the 2010 Excellence Award winner from the National Summer Learning Association and a member of The Wallace Foundation’s More Time for Learning Professional Learning Community, Horizons is a visible leader in summer learning.
Foundation and corporate leaders have identified Horizons as an outstanding national summer learning organization, citing our commitment to quality, data and strong evidence of positive academic gains and other benefits for our students. Horizons’ proven model counters the negative effects of the summer slide and its role in widening the achievement gap between low-income children and their more economically advantaged peers.
Operating on independent school and college campuses, Horizons serves as a pivotal link, bringing the resources and attention of these private institutions to bear in the efforts to close this devastating gap.
Your investment in Horizons National will support:
- Nationally Funded Program Initiatives: To provide additional products and services for all affiliates, including critical staff, integrated databases, and year-round support services
- Program Expansion: To more than double the size of our network -- from 20 program sites in summer 2011 to 45 sites by 2016, bringing Horizons to more students and increasing the community resources focused on summer learning
- Affiliate Support Resources: To strategically increase central staffing and resources to maximize the efficiency of our operations, including database assessment, tracking and evaluation resources
Neither Horizons National nor its affiliates receive direct public funding, but both seek sponsoring partners among individuals, private foundations and corporations. Join the exceptional group of investors that support Horizons.
